Progress report
Lately I've been working on drop pods and devices. The whole device handling system and player's interaction with them has been refactored under the hood to much better support adding new different devices to the game in future. As a more visible change, I'm updating most models for the devices in order to make them more recognizable.
Here's a new model to be used for "beacon" type of devices that can order for example missile strikes from the support ship. 48 vertices, 92 triangles.
Here is the new model for the sentry gun device. This my favorite from the updated models so far. 109 vertices, 208 triangles.
The model for the drop pod that delivers devices from the support ship in orbit has also been updated. 49 vertices, 94 triangles (excluding the thruster plume).
This whole refactoring and remodeling started because I needed to add a new device type that behaves quite differently from the previous ones. I'm not going to reveal what it is just yet because I'm not 100% sure it will work. Hopefully I can show this new device in the next post.
