Progress report
The next alpha update is still at least a few weeks away, so I decided to write a little progress report of things that have happened since the alpha 0.0.4 update.
Most of the work since the last release has gone into the online features which in this case mean weekly challenges and online high scores:
Another feature that has taken quite a bit of my time is a pause/photo mode that allows moving the camera freely and taking pretty screenshots during the game. I initially planned to enable this only in a developer mode but it will be always available at least for now.
One problem with the visual side has been the lack of dynamic lights and the overall lighting in the game has felt a bit boring. To improve this, I'm currently experimenting with bio-luminescent plants. They could serve two purposes: Add dynamic lights to the scene and work as "explosive barrels". I'm not quite sure yet how this will go.
I'll try to make more frequent posts here in the future. Nothing too fancy, just short progress reports like this one.
